Sampy: Blind, FIV Cat

Organized by BeliEVE Cat Rescue

Sampy Gets Better & Better!!
Just had an email from Sampy's foster mommy in TX. He is gaining weight and has much more energy and stamina. All that is great news if he needs eye surgery. He is even becoming a finicky eater, preferring her homemade 'Magic Gruel' to IAMS! That's surely a sign he's doing better and better!
Good News Continues!
Thanks to all who have contributed to Sampy! We've exceeded our initial goal and that's wonderful!! He hasn't yet seen a specialist about his eyes, however, so we have no idea exactly what he will need in that area. They are waiting until his pneumonia is gone before venturing into the eye treatment needed.

His wonderful foster reports that Sampy is growing stronger daily and his eyes are looking better! He'll never have normal sight but perhaps can keep both eyes? He gets along well and sees well enough to enjoy his daily walks. He especially likes nighttime strolls. His foster lives on a farm and I'm sure Sampy enjoys all the sounds and smells.

Sampy is testimony to the fact that disabled and sick animals deserve a chance to survive and THRIVE!

Thank you so much to all Sampy's friends!!!
Sampy Goes to The Vet!
Sampy took a vet check-up yesterday. He got a very good report! His lungs are still congested but the antibiotics have reduced the congestion already. Good News! His kidney function is good though his liver numbers were elevated. The vet feels this is due to the stress he's been under and his weak little body fighting the infection. He had gained some weight! Good News!

His vet was very impressed with the wonderful care given by his foster mom. She is making him peacock egg omlettes. These eggs are especially good for you - and cats, too.

His foster has been taking him on outdoor strolls, and Sampy is growing more relaxed, calm and happy every day. He now comes to her for headbonks and loving!

Thanks to everyone for making such a tremendous difference in the life of this sweet boy! His adoptive mommy is most grateful and cannot wait to meet Sampy once he is healed and can travel. Bless you!!!
Sampy's Progress
Today, our wonderful foster reports that Sampy is enjoying resting in his kitty condo, listening to the sounds of the countryside around him and the other kitties playing below. He is eating better now, thanks to the delicious special meals she is preparing.

Sampy's mother-to-be has contributed all she can afford right now to his treatments and care. Won't you help this beautiful Maine Coon 'see' a brighter future? Just a little will make a lot of difference.
Thank you!!!
Sampy/Lance: A True Survivor
Lance, now known as Sampy (Sampson) is a blind cat who had been destined to die in an Austin, TX pound. Living outdoors as a neglected blind cat took its toll. Sampy was thin, malnourished, and dehydrated. A wonderful woman in NY state read about him on Facebook and decided Sampy deserved a chance at LIFE! Through the efforts of many determined people throughout the country, Sampy was saved only a few hours before his execution time!

A generous foster now has Sampy. He has since tested positive for FIV and has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection and pneumonia. One of his eyes needs to be removed. The foster needs to feed special foods until his health is restored.

We are trying to raise money to cover the wonderful foster mom's costs, Sampy's vet bills, eventual surgery, and transport costs to his forever home in NY.

You can meet Sampy at his page on Catster:

Every penny will help this courageous boy on his journey to health and home!

Thank you!!!
